Skilled Worker Guide
Who is this for?
This guide is for people from outside the EU/EEA who have a job offer in Norway and need a skilled worker permit.
Requirements
- Job offer from a Norwegian employer
- Relevant qualifications (degree or vocational training)
- Salary must meet minimum requirements (equal to or above the industry standard)
- The job must be full-time (at least 80%)
Processing Times
- SUA (fast track): Up to 3 months
- Normal: Up to 6 months
- Simple cases: 1–4 months
- Note: Expect longer processing times during summer
How to Apply
- Your employer registers the job offer at altinn.no
- You apply at udi.no
- Pay the application fee
- Submit biometrics at your nearest Norwegian embassy
Costs
- Application fee: Check current price at udi.no (changes yearly)
After Approval
- Register with the police within a few weeks of arriving
- Apply for a D-number or personnummer at Skatteetaten
- Get a bank account and BankID
